KERALA BEACH HOLIDAYS

Take a short break on the beach at the location of your choice. Holidays start at either Trivandrum or Cochin, depending on the resort. You can extend your stay with one of our other packages to take in the stunning backwaters, mountains or experience the culture of Kerala.
Marari

Quiet and undeveloped, the beach at Marari is a haven of tranquility. The palm-fringed beach is only 12 Km from Alleppey, which is ideal for shopping, and where we can arrange a boat trip along the backwater canals for a day and other sightseeing excursions. Visit the coir factories, take a drive or a boat trip through the backwaters, or see some of the museums and palaces at Alleppey. The fishermen still live and work along this beach and you can see them launching their boats in the surf and bringing their catch back to shore.

Kovalam

Kovalam Beach is spread across five small bays and is the most popular and developed in Kerala. If you wish to stay in a beach resort where there is a choice of bars and restaurants and the life of the town comes right to your door, Kovalam is the place to stay! Lighthouse Beach is the most popular, where the local fishermen still keep their boats, but which is also lively and in reach of more upbeat places for the night's entertainment. There are many places to eat, you can stroll along the streets and shop at the market stalls, or just relax on the beach. You are within easy reach of the main city of Trivandrum, with its temples, museums and palace.

Excursions:
> Spend a night cruising the backwaters on your own luxury houseboat. Day trips are also possible.
> Combine a short stay on the beach with our 14 Day Highlights of Kerala trip for a longer stay.
> From Kovalam, visit Kanyakumari at the very tip of India
> Take a 3 or 4 day trip into the forests and wildlife sanctuaries of the Western Ghats.

The Beaches The Malabar coast of Kerala faces West, and in the evenings many people find the nearest coast and walk along the beach watching the sun set and taking the cooler air and breezes which wash in at dusk. The most popular beach resorts are clustered along a short strip of coast near Trivandrum. The sea is deep, and in the monsoon seasons dangerous and unpredictable, but the beaches are sandy and fringed with palm trees. The main occupation of many all along Kerala's beaches is still fishing, and the boats come and go according to the tides. North of the main resort of Kovalam is Varkala, set on a low cliff. To the South of Cochin, about 10 miles North of Alleppey, is the quieter area of Mararikulum. Here the beach is backed by paddy fields and the resorts are away from the bustle of town.
